90 Category 3: Industrial Buildings and Plants 3 Owner Merry Rice General Contractor Siam Indica Engineering Office Abicon nv Construction Period 01/2016 - 09/2017 The project is a new factory for rice production. Large silos are used for storage of the waste during the production of the rice. The factory itself with all of the transport lines is above the silos. A 3D model was made in SCIA Engineer with all the columns and beams. Then load panels were added so that we could get all the reactions and internal forces in the beams and columns. Deformations of the columns were due to the wind and deformations of all of the beams were obtained. Lastly the model was used to calculate the steel connections. In this project, we needed to consider earthquakes in the calculation. Due to the large height of the building we had to take very good care in relation to the horizontal stability of the building.
