102 The Baye de Clarens viaduct is located on the Blonay-Chamby section of the Pléiades line. The original bridge was built in 1902 in stone masonry. Located in a deep slip zone, it is subject to damaging earth movements. As the bridge reached the end of its lifespan and no longer meets the current safety criteria, the owner decided to replace the existing viaduct by a new structure. In order to best meet all the constraints and requirements set out in the specifications, a viaduct with 80 m radius, a total length of 135 m and a single 28 m high pier (equal spans of 67.5 m), ensures both elegance and structural optimization. The composite deck consists of an asymmetrical metal box and a reinforced U-section concrete slab. SCIA Engineer was used for all design phases of the bridge from the concreting of the girder to the final service stage. The 3D model is composed of beams, plates and shells elements in order to fit the geometry. The Engineering Report and the steel code check have been widely used in response to the complex geometry.
