SCIA User Contest 2020 Flipping Book

108 The new pedestrian underpass has a total length of its main part of 115 m, with 9 staircases / slopes that reach the train station’s platforms and the street level (their length goes up to 45 m). The main cross-section is 10 m wide and the inner free height varies from 2.5 to 5.7 m. The underpass will be built under the current main train station of the city of Fribourg (Switzerland). The new underpass will be built in an urban zone while the 7 railways of the train station will all be in operation. The whole model and calculations were completed in 1.5 months, including the changes in the shape of different platforms (affecting the main structure). The IFC file was very easily imported into SCIA Engineer, and every change in the structure was easily implemented thanks to the versatility of SCIA Engineering’s elements (shells and beams). The different phases of the construction were easily analysed thanks to the possibility of “switching off” parts of the structure. A great number of different loads were implemented, and SCIA Engineer allowed us to create load combinations easily .
