109 The length of the stands is 98.96 m. New reinforced concrete columns 400 (b) x 500 (l) mm, h = 3.5 - 4 m are located along the stands and fixed to the foundations. The new steel roof bearing constructions (steel frame) h = 2.63 m and l = 6.8 m, slope i = 8.75% is fixed to the columns. The steel frame constructions with vertical and horizontal bracing are made from cold formed profiles. The roof base is formed by timber girders 60 (h) x 150 (b) mm; and the roof cover is of bituminous or pvc material. The aim of the project – to repair a stadium and provide it with a new independent roof bearing structure over the stands. The steel frame construction was selected due to its smaller cross-section height. It was necessary to find the optimal step for the steel frame and minimise the number of cross-sections. The possibility to quickly change the model and have results fast were the main decisive factors for choosing SCIA Engineer. The reinforcement in the concrete members was also designed and checks with SCIA Engineer. Also very useful was the selection of steel profiles using the AutoDesign function. Other capabilities of SCIA Engineer that made our work effective were load combinations and result classes used for design and checks of the elements, snow and wind generator, formatting and presentation of results using Engineering Report.
