130 ARCHITECT Hydro B OWNER Altega SPRL GENERAL CONTRACTOR Chêne SA CONSTRUCTION PERIOD 08/2019 - n/a Grosses Battes hydro power plant project consists of the rehabilitation of an existing facility in Liège (Belgium) on the Ourth river. The goal is to replace the 3 current turbines by 2 Kaplan turbines. Our missions in this project: - Create drawings of the planned situation for planning permission - Structural design of concrete parts of the facility - Drawings and structural design of the fish ladder - Functional and structural design of electromechanical parts Power plant in a few numbers: - 2 low speed Kaplan turbines of 750 kW each (1.5 MW expected for both) - Drop height: 4.25 m - Flow rate: 22.5 m³/ s per turbine (45 m³/s for both turbines) - Expected production: +-4,400,000 kWh/year (which represents needs for +-1375 households) SCIA Engineer is used to create an analysis model for the design of reinforcement in the concrete parts. A few other models were made for discrete facility parts such as bar screen cleaner, footbridges, stoplogs… This is one of our first projects designed with SCIA Engineer in our company. After a rather short adaptation time, we easily made the switch from our previous tool.
