141 ARCHITECT Groep 3 architecten OWNER Brewery Halve Maan GENERAL CONTRACTOR Beeuwsaert Construct CONSTRUCTION PERIOD 10/2019 - 12/2020 The new bottling plant for Halve Maan Brewery can be divided to 3 parts: an underground parking space with the area of 2,500 m², the bottling plant itself with 5,500 m² of surface area and an adjacent office building with the area of 4,200 m² arranged over 4 levels. The bottling plant is located at the end of a unique underground beer pipe that is 3 km long and drilled under the historical centre of Bruges. The main engineering challenge in this project was the interaction between the bottling facility requirements and the structural design. In the main hall of the bottling plant, the number of columns had to be reduced to a minimum without resulting in extreme dimensions of the load-bearing structure. SCIA Engineer was used to analyse the main structure and to design concrete slabs, walls, columns and beams. The construction model was made in Tekla Structures, with all the information needed for a high-quality construction. SCIA Engineer was used for the analysis of the entire structure. All the loads, including 3D-windloads, and load combinations were easily introduced in the model. The analysis gave us fast results and good insights into the internal forces in the structure.
