146 This project consists of a construction of a new meat processing factory. The difficulty of this project was in harmonizing the geometry of three different sub- buildings with the demands of the complex process flow throughout the entire factory and with the necessary secondary steel requirements for each zone in the flow chain. In order to successfully complete this project, the import of dwg underlying layers proved really helpful to keep an overall overview whilst building the model. Also, the export of IFC-models for BIM purposes (exchange with third parties for clash checking of piping and technology) was an added value. Furthermore, other smart time-saving functionalities of SCIA Engineer such as load panels, 3D wind generator according to Eurocode and mobile/train loads were used to build the model. A non-linear static calculation was performed, taking into account the effect of ‘tension-only’ members. Next to a check of deformations, EC3 steel and stability checks were performed. Finally, the model was used for the design and calculation of the steel connections.
