163 SPECIAL PROJECTS 4 The project is located in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It is a steel frame for a 345 kV electrical substation used as a cable support. The structure has two spans of 22 m and is 20 m high. The project consisted of checking the forces of the structure that had been already built. For this verification, modelling features were used, and the design verification of the steel frame was made using the NBR 8800 code. Other features such as horizontal springs and rigid bar links with plate were used to make the structural model behave similarly to the real one. SCIA Engineer features facilitated the checking for additional effects in the existing framework and offered great time optimisation during both modelling and results verification.
