The purpose of this initial study was to make an overall estimate of foundation blocks. The main challenge in this project was the modelling of the structure, as it had a great degree of complexity. We used modelling features SCIA Engineer has, especially, the Catalogue Blocks. The model was used to estimate the structure weight and the forces for the foundation blocks. The design verification was carried out according to NBR 8800. The use of SCIA Engineer on this project optimised the time used to verify the additional forces acting on the existing structure.
