169 ARCHITECT AWA Architectes OWNER Languedoc Mutualité GENERAL CONTRACTOR Baudin Châteauneuf - Gentilly CONSTRUCTION PERIOD 04/2018 - 10/2018 EXTENSION OF BEAU-SOLEIL CLINIC Montpel l ier , France For the extension of the “Beau-Soleil” clinic in Montpellier (France), a bridge has been designed to span one of the buildings. The main structure is 15 m wide and is composed of 2 steel lattice girders (Warren): 63 m long, 47 m span, and 7 m high. The structure has 3 floors made of composite steel and concrete beams. Each model has 4 supports to create the embedding between the Warren structure and the concrete abutment. In order not to have the structural model too complex, an analysis was made to study the influence of the concrete abutment and the stiffness of foundations. Thanks to it we were able to model the supports using the pillar’s rigidity. The supports have also phasing defined that depends on the Warren’s weight-bearing. The 3 floors are diaphragms modelled with concrete shells which resist horizontal effects. Thanks to SCIA Engineer’s capabilities we were able to perform a seismic design and vibration analysis. It allowed us to design the sections, the joints, the reinforcement of the floors, and the erection method for the Warren. Via IFC exports we could transfer the design model to a drawing model (Tekla) and to other applications. The concrete abutment study was realized by another company which uses different design software. Nevertheless, we were able to exchange our models to perform the stiffness analysis.
