42 BUILDINGS 1 As a part of the rehabilitation project of Terminal 2B, Baudin Châteauneuf built the steel structure of the BD building, between the 2B and 2D terminals. Above the 1st level of reinforced concrete infrastructure, a steel structure is designed with three floor levels and a roof. The dimensions of the structure are 100 m (maximum) in length and 70 m in width. The structure culminates at approximately 28 m above the airport runways. The steel structure weighs approximately 1,600 t and consists of steel-concrete composite columns of circular cross-section that support the steel-concrete composite beams and joists. The floors are of composite steel floor deck type, with an overall surface area of approximately 13,500 m². The particularity of the structure lies in its overall stability, which is ensured only by two reinforced concrete cores located at only one of the building’s sides, where the elevators and the stairs are placed. In SCIA Engineer, one global model was created considering a diaphragm slab effect in order to study the behavior of the structure subject to wind load and concrete shrinkage. Moreover, the model was used to optimise the foundations. The stability analysis module was used as well as the modal analysis module to calculate the coefficients Cs and Cd related to wind actions.
