This innovative choice was the main complexity of the project. The objective is twofold: on the one hand to bathe the space for reading and consultations with light, on the other hand to preserve the modular quality, in other words to offer a surface of 1120 m² without columns that extends over the area 22 m wide and 34 m long. This design will allow the construction owners to re-arrange the space at their convenience. The structure, designed by SCIA Engineer, consists of a network of three- dimensional V-shaped beams with variable inertia following two axes. Thanks to SCIA Engineer we have modelled and mastered the complete 3D structure. Initially, the design tools allowed us to save a lot of time in our study. We were able to precisely model a pyramid and our load bearing lattices, copy them, orient them, stretch them as needed and thus respect the architecture of the project. Second, as SCIA Engineer features relatively short calculation and code-checks times , it has allowed us to redesign, adapt and resize our structure throughout the whole project time.
