56 The Surinamese insurance company Assuria N.V. is the tallest building in Suriname. This building will have ten floors and a net floor area of approximately 8,245 m². Upon completion it will have the total height of 53.8 m making it the tallest structure in the country. Its curved design is one of its most unique characteristics. The shape was inspired by traditional Surinamese boats which are capable of navigating through dangerous river rapids. The height of the structure together with its curved shape proved to be the most challenging parts of the project. The challenges were easily tackled thanks to SCIA Engineer’s powerful and easy-to-use modelling features and advanced analysis tools.
