60 The new headquarters of Kovona Systems are located in Český Těšín in the northeast of the Czech Republic. The building is situated on the premises of a manufacturing company, so the architectural design respects neighbouring buildings and their lines. The structure has three floors with a maximum length of about 75 m and width of 18 m. The specific cladding design refers to steel grates produced in this company The specific shape of the structure is divided into two parts: a steel part and a concrete one that is rotated by 90 degrees. This project covers the steel structure of the third floor that is supported in several points by specially shaped columns and stabilized through anchoring to the concrete structure. The interesting combination of glass, aluminum and steel on the facade caused many complications for the substructure, which had to be solved. The SCIA Engineer’s 3D model allowed us to visualise and calculate the structure. The model was also useful for architects to understand the real structure and to recognize collisions between the structure, facade and interior parts especially in the corners. In addition, we used SCIA Engineer’s link to a dedicated software for check of connections, which was especially convenient for inclined beams and columns.
