Three identical 31-floors high residential towers with an elliptical plan (47 m by 28 m) and the height of 104 m are built as a part of the project. The steel part forms a load bearing structure for the “cap” over the roof which closes the shape of each building. The geometry follows a part of the ellipsoidal surface. The complex geometry of the steel structure led to a simultaneous 3D design of the cladding and the structure according to the architect’s intent. Wind- tunnel testing was used to determine aerodynamic coefficients. The structure was precisely preassembled in a factory and a 3D simulation of cladding suspension was prepared. Anchoring details were adapted to match the final shape of the concrete structure. SCIA Engineer was used for the analysis of the global structural behaviour. For proper sizing of steel sections, the serviceability limit state proved to be crucial. Due to the complexity of the geometry, the deformation limits were set individually. An easy export of the structural model to number of formats was very helpful in communication with other participants. 6000 m² 6000 m²
