66 SÜDSPIDOL Esch- sur -Al zette , Luxembourg Südspidol is a complex of 3 hospitals located in the south of Luxembourg in Esch-sur-Alzette. The project is composed of 4 reinforced concrete buildings extending over 400 m. The total area of 59,380 m² will be split between 2 underground and 3 to 6 above ground floors. The design of each building reflects its specific functionality: surgical area, radiotherapy rooms… The buildings are interconnected by steel bridges. The roof of the first building will be reinforced by a steel structure and a helicopter platform will be built on it. The project is located next to the Dippach river and the underground will be subject to 10 m of water pressure. The size of the project leads us towards a full BIM process to improve the coordination between the actors and to link their Revit 3D models. All information is exchanged through 3D models using BCF files and a collaborative platform. Moreover, a clash control is regularly performed to discover any collisions. Each building is modelled, designed and optimised separately in SCIA Engineer. A non-linearity analysis has been done to optimise the foundations (micro-piles, concrete piles, foundation slab) and to solve the water pressure related issues. Given the amount of coordination needed between individual actors, the link SCIA Engineer - Revit gave us the possibility to import the complete and accurate geometry of slabs for the design.
