CONSTRUCTION PERIOD 2019 - 2020 VILA N Brat i s lava , S lovak ia Residential house Vila N is located in Devín, Bratislava, Slovakia. It is a concrete structure consisting of walls and slabs. Vila N has one underground floor and a ground floor. Under the whole ground floor, there is a foundation slab which is not connected with the ceiling slab of the underground floor. These two structures are separated by extruded polystyrene. Another interesting aspect of this project is that one room with loggia is cantilevered with the cantilever being 5.5 m long. SCIA Engineer was used to create a full FE model and to calculate the required reinforcement of concrete structures. Balcony slabs were not modelled, because they are fixed to the ceiling and foundation slabs via load bearing thermal break elements. Therefore, the balcony slabs were replaced by additional loads. The Soil-interaction module was used to analyse the interaction of the subsoil with the structure and to determine the thickness and reinforcement of the foundation slab.
