97 BICYCLE BRIDGE EUREGIOWEG Enschede , Nether lands ARCHITECT Wurck Architectuur Stedenbouw Landschap OWNER City of Enschede GENERAL CONTRACTOR Strukton Civiel Noord & Oost bv CONSTRUCTION PERIOD 05/2019 - 08/2019 The city of Enschede wants to motivate bicycle riding, therefore faster and safer bicycle paths need to be created. This bridge connects Euregioweg to Oosterstraat and forms the missing link between Enschede and Glanerbrug. The total length is 109 m and the bridge consists of six spans and an overhang. The width is 4.40 m and the maximum height is 6.24 m. The main span crosses a railway, owned by Prorail. The main span is a symmetrical portal with a V-shaped column on each side. The overhang is located against the existing bridge. The architect and the steel fabricator had already created a 3D model in Tekla Structures. An IFC import helped us create a working structural modal in one day. The challenge with this conversion was to keep the structural lines and the lengths of the element in the right place without introducing excessive amounts of eccentricities or extra elements. We added concrete foundation slabs and concrete foundation piles. The most challenging part of the whole process was matching the model with reality and making it readable for everyone . The possibility of creating an Engineering Report with clear pictures and tables allowed us to produce a readable output. The speed of converting an IFC model to an analysis model is amazing.
