133 New Station in Belval-Usines The roof of the new station is steel structure composed of 37 portal frames with an elliptic form. The span of the frames varies between 17 and 31m with a height between 6m and 10m. The frames are made out hot rolled H profiles and are rigidly embedded within a longitudinal concrete beam of 1 m height. Portal frames are connected with tubular longitudinal elements; wind braces are also made out tubular steel profiles. The external portal frames will receive a glass façade, fixed on vertical steel profiles. To avoid the distortion due to the curvature of the profiles, dilatation joints are foreseen between the different zones of curvature. The most curved beams shall been realized in welded reconstituted profiles. The structure has been modelled in 3D in AutoCAD on basis of architectural drawings. The calculation model (axis lines) has been read in SCIA•ESAPT. We have used the functionalities of SCIA•ESAPTto finalize the geometry of the axis model. Then we have attributed the profiles, loads and supports The calculation model was ready in a few hours. We have used the design modules of SCIA•ESAPTto rapidly come to a pre-design of the structure.
