Jozef Baran Email: [email protected] After finishing my studies at the Slovak University of Technology in 1976, I started to work as a civil engineer. Untill 1990, I worked in a company as the responsible civil engineer. Since 1990, I have become an independent structural engineer. I am a member of the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers. In my office we are working with 3 to 10 civil engineers according the volume of work. For my calculations I use the following software: SCIA FEAT Release 2002, FINE GEO4 and in cooperation with other colleagues IDA Nexis 32 (ESA-Prima Win). This year I will start with SCIA•ESA PT. In general A block of apartments will be erected in the near future. At the moment all project data are prepared to obtain a building licence. The main investor of the building is IPEC s.r.o. Basic parameters of the building Total numbers of floors is 20. Eighteen above ground level and three floors below ground level. The total height of the building is 64.33 m. The total area is more than 10 000 m², approximately 600 m² per floor. The main bearing system of the building is created from cast in place reinforced concrete. In the middle of the building is located a core with the dimensions 6.90 m.x 10.00 m, the walls thicknesses go from 400 mm to 200 mm. The dimensions of the square columns are 300 x 700 mm to 300 x 400 mm in the upper part of the building. Floor slabs are beamless with a thickness of 200 mm. Method of the designing for detail design For the calculation of the main bearing system based on architectural drawing, a 3D model was created. For the separate parts, some models were created in the FEAT program. The results from the global calculation were included into the separate models as external load or are included into the proportioning. Loads The self weight of the structure is considered according the thickness of the bearing parts. The additional dead load lies in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 kappa. The live load on common floors is 1.5 kPa. Global structural calculation The main bearing system of the building is calculated by a 3D computational model created by the finite element method. Floor slabs are modelled but for computational reasons only a very large mesh is used. For linear seismic response calculation, the response spectra method is used. For the combination of the modal responses, the CQC method is used. The proportioning of the foundation slab and the core walls is done in this model without any other influence or consideration. All calculation is performed by NEXIS 32.50.05 program (ESA-Prima Win). Structural analysis and design Foundation: The geological structure of the concerned territory is built-up by Palaeozoic granitoide rocks. The shallow foundations - a foundation slab of 1.2 m thickness - has been designed. Concrete C30/37, Reinforcement: fyk = 460 MPa Design and calculation of the foundation slab Internal force and calculation of the foundation slab on 3D model for global structure analysis was used here. Upper structure Regarding the structural point of view this is the combined system of a wall and skeleton structure. Both the basement and the ground floor vertical load bearing elements are monolithic reinforced concrete columns completed with reinforced concrete walls of 300 or 250 mm thickness serving as a stiffening walls at the same time. Horizontal load bearing structures are beamless monolithic reinforced concrete slabs 200 mm thick. Concrete C30/37, Reinforcement: fyk = 460 MPa. Concrete for columns C40/50, Reinforcement: fyk = 460 MPa Calculation of the columns Columns are calculated in a separate calculation. Normal forces are adopted from global structural analysis. Bending moments are adopted from floor slab calculation performed by FEAT program. For each type of column, a separate calculation is performed and influence due to live load is taken into consideration. 80 Company Project Multifunctional building 2A Statica stavieb SCIA User Contest 2005 / Civil Engineering 2 Categorie
