Structural engineers Sailer Stepan and Partners designed the 1.500 m² canopy as a steel double curved grid shell with 18 freestanding columns. An intense design process has determined the choice of materials, the optimized shape of the roof and the restricted load transfer to the existing underlying structure of the subway station.
