(FH) SFI Jürgen Mark Construction Period 2012 - 2013 An approximately 1,600 m2 L-shaped roof was built between two pre-existing industrial buildings in the loading area of a concrete manufacturing plant. With main dimensions of approx. 51 x 46 m, a span of up to 30 m needed to be bridged. The dimensions and connection points of the steel structure had to meet the requirements of a hot-dip galvanised steel design. Moreover, construction was impacted by limitations such as utilising the pre-existing buildings as support, as well as the demand for a large roofed area accessible to trucks, without structural supports being in the way. The already existing building and the new construction were visualized in 3D-CAD and were afterwards imported via the import function into SCIA Engineer.
