SCIA User Contest 2023

100 The new pedestrian bridge in Hradec Kralove connects the city center to the expanding Aldis congress center area. It features two asymmetrical spans, with the main span reaching almost 69 m and supported by two full locked coil cables for structural integrity. The bridge deck comprises lightweight precast UHPFRC elements with embedded prestressing cables, connected to the bearing cables by slim steel crossbars. SCIA Engineer was instrumental in analyzing the structure and ensuring a seamless integration between theoretical predictions and reallife results. The design of this bridge required out-of-the-box thinking and innovative solutions, with architects collaborating closely to push the boundaries. The distinctive substructure complements the modern aesthetics of the bridge, and the use of SCIA Engineer allowed for comprehensive analysis of all structural components and construction stages. The successful implementation of this bridge enhances accessibility and connectivity in Hradec Kralove while showcasing architectural and engineering excellence.
