115 HANGAR A400M Bricy, France With a surface area of 4,500 m², the building is intended to accommodate the maintenance of the A400M, an air force transport aircraft, at the Bricy air base, near Orléans in the Loiret department in France. The maximum height of the structure is 29 m. The lattice girders have a span of 76 m each. The largest of which is 11.60 m high. These dimensions allow for a free passage of 51 m in width by 18 m in height at the front. The weight of the steel structure is 735 tons. The whole steel structure was modelled in 3D. After its parameterisation, the steel control of SCIA Engineer allowed the dimensioning of the steel frame and the production of calculation notes. The stability analysis module was also used for verifications during the ground assembly of the trusses and during the lifting of the complete roof assembly, which is the highest block of the structure. The global modelling of the structure and the systematic use of the steel checks module according to the Eurocode allowed Baudin to quickly find the right dimensions of steel sections. It also allowed them to optimise the global weight of the framework.
