117 MAINTENANCE FACILITY HALL ‘CFL CRM SUD’ Rodange, Luxembourg The national railway company CFL has undertaken the task of constructing a new maintenance facility in the southern region of the country to address the growing demand for public transportation. With the procurement of a new train series, there will be a substantial increase in the number of trains, necessitating additional capacities for maintenance and night storage. To meet these challenges, a comprehensive plan has been developed, encompassing a new office building with an underground car park for approximately 200 cars, adjacent to a multi-aisle workshop featuring 5 tracks. The dimensions of the facility are significant, with an overall length of 200 m, a width of 112 m, and a height of 15 m, resulting in a total surface area of approximately 24,800 m², inclusive of the 4-story office building. Given the challenging soil conditions, the entire building complex relies on large, drilled piles for its foundation. The design also accounts for elevated working platforms and 15-ton cranes within the workshop hall. Additionally, the high-bay warehouse area experiences significantly higher loads, and the underground car park ceiling must withstand heavy truck traffic. To ensure accurate planning and assessment, the entire building complex has been meticulously modeled and pre-dimensioned in a 3D environment.
