121 MODULAR STEEL STRUCTURE FOR WASTE PLANT Europe and South-East Asia The aim for this project was to engineer a modular structural system that can be constructed in the production plant including most of the equipment and piping. The modules must be able to be transported by truck, train or ship. The steel structure is divided into a low-rise and a high-rise part. The first level of both low-rise and high-rise parts will be constructed on site and consists of several two-bay portal frames which are connected by beams in the longitudinal direction. The modules and the assembled complete structure are engineered for dead load, live load, snow and ice loads and wind loads. For one of the Europe sites a seismic analysis is performed using the Response Spectrum method. The extensive options within the program as well as the possibility to check the steel structure according to several codes / national annexes prove to be a great advantage when using SCIA Engineer.
