166 As part of the reconstruction project of the Costières Stadium, home to Nîmes Olympique football club, Antonins Stadium will serve as temporary venue for hosting League 1 matches while the old stadium is being demolished and rebuilt. Once the project is completed, the stadium will be handed over to the city of Nîmes. Situated south of Nîmes, along the A9 motorway, it features four stands with a seating capacity of 8,000 spectators. Notably the main stands are covered by 5,000 m² cantilever canopies, wich include detached camera platforms to avoid vibrations caused by audience movements. During the preparatory phase, the construction principle was carefully defined to achieve an elegant structure despite the inherent weight of the components involved in a framework of this scale. When the project started, only eight months remained until the completion deadline and numerous modifications where made along the way. SCIA Engineer models played a vital role in facilitating quick and efficient modifications and updates. This was particulary noticeable when the flexibility of the supports in the structural design and its impact on load distribution had to be taken in consideration. The significant time savings calculations proved invaluable to the entire design team.
