SCIA User Contest 2023

30 The Assuria Hermitage High-Rise B, also known as the Assuria Baby Tower, is a building in Paramaribo with ground floor businesses and restaurants, and office spaces on upper levels. It stands 27 m above ground with a net floor area of 5,268 m². Inspired by Suriname’s tallest building, it boasts a distinctive curved shape. The ground floor is in-situ concrete, while composite decks form the storey floors. The columns vary for stability: HEB300 on the ground and first floor, and HEA300 elsewhere. Horizontal stability comes from steel frame elevator shafts, HEM240 columns, bracing, and composite decks. The structure allows future expansion with extra concrete and steel beams at the rear. Fireproof design ensures 60-minute fire resistance. Designing the curved steel structure, steel connections, and reinforced concrete foundation posed challenges, but SCIA Engineer’s user-friendly tools and high accuracy facilitated a swift and error-free completion of the design phase. Calculated reactions in SCIA Engineer were valuable for the reinforced concrete foundation calculations. The structure was easily modeled and detailed in Revit and Tekla using SCIA Engineer’s IFC import/export option. ASSURIA HERMITAGE HIGH-RISE B BUILDING Paramaribo, Suriname NOMINEE
