The building’s supporting structure was optimized for robustness and sustainability, with a combination of materials and construction methods. For the roof with the largest span (25 m pool), cement-bonded wood wool panels on lamellar beams were chosen. Other roofs consist of concrete slabs with vaults or poured concrete, depending on the span. Geotechnical calculations using Plaxis 2D and SCIA Engineer helped design the flood barrier and pool structures. The project faced challenges of integrating different structural elements and connecting with the existing building. SCIA Engineer proved essential in modelling and analyzing the complex structures, providing flexibility for design modifications. It facilitated step-bystep construction and collaboration with reinforcement calculations. Overall, SCIA Engineer played a crucial role in ensuring a successful and efficient design process for this complex project.
