SCIA User Contest 2023

78 The engineering office Rausch et Associés was commissioned to reconstruct the Martelinville bridge in Rambrouch, located on the Belgian-Luxembourg border. The existing bridge had deteriorated due to floods, requiring a permanent replacement. The new wooden bridge, with a 14-m span, curved laminated beams, and raised height for flood protection, was designed using SCIA Engineer for stable and visually appealing modelling. SCIA Engineer’s “rigid arms” function ensured a stable model, and the transparency in calculation notes helped address verification criteria for curved timber elements. The project involved collaboration with a trainee from Haute Ecole de Liège, highlighting the value of SCIA Engineer training for quick integration of new collaborators in design offices. The team relies on SCIA Engineer’s reliability while maintaining their critical engineering approach. Overall, the engineering office successfully reconstructed the Martelinville bridge in Rambrouch, leveraging SCIA Engineer for accurate modelling, transparency, and collaboration. The new wooden bridge, designed with flood protection measures, ensures the safety and functionality of the structure while accommodating local traffic and agricultural carts. Rausch et Associés values the use of SCIA Engineer in their daily work, appreciating its reliability and facilitating the integration of new team members in design offices.
