80 Departmental Road No. 6204, the vital artery traversing the ROYA valley, faced significant devastation in the wake of the destructive Alex storm on 2 October 2020. The Caïros Bridge and the Ambo Bridge bore the brunt of this calamity, with the former suffering fractures that necessitated its replacement, while the latter was entirely washed away, compelling the construction of a new crossing. Situated in the municipalities of Fontan and Saorge, these crucial structures serve as lifelines for crossing the ROYA. The Caïros Bridge, boasting a bow-string design, spans 55.00 m, while the Ambo Bridge stretches across 75 m. Separated by a mere 200 m, their reconstruction posed an urgent challenge. The exigency of the situation compelled the swift production of the tender dossier, with the DCE completed in early 2021, a mere few weeks after the devastating ALEX storm. This expedited timeline necessitated efficient project management, as these bow-string structures marked the department’s pioneering endeavor. Leveraging the power of SCIA Engineer, the construction DCE preparation achieved notable time savings, enabling the generation of advanced studies (PRO phase) within tight deadlines. SCIA Engineer’s versatile modules facilitated seamless integration of various verifications, encompassing geometric stability, diverse traffic loads, modal analysis, and more.
