90 The Blansko bridge (Moravian Karst, Czechia) is situated near the city center, joining two parts connected hitherto only by a jammed level crossing. Its 5 spans overpass a railway, the Svitava river and a cycleway. The bridge length is 173.3 m and with 12 m width, including a one-side cantilever, it contains a two-lane road and pedestrian walkway. The largest (central) span 77.6 m was designed as a steel arch structure with tie rods mesh. The bridge structure has been designed as two parallel arch girders consisting of welded box profiles. The simply supported steel structure was joined with adjoining bays to form a continuous static system where no expansion joints are needed. The bridge launching analysis played a dominant role during the whole design process. The parallel elaborating of the detail design and manufacturing drawings were needed due to the tight deadline of putting the bridge into operation. The global and detailed analysis was done with SCIA Engineer, by using plate and shell elements executing a nonlinear analysis, especially for the incremental retensioning of tie rods. The calculation of launch stages by using the Construction stages module with export to our Excel expert tables for pre-tensioning adjustments at any stage significantly raised the effectiveness of engineering and execution works.
