92 The new water tower in Baudecet, Gembloux is set to quadruple the water capacity in Gembloux to 1,500 m³, ensuring that the city is prepared for future expansion. The tower has a diameter of 20 m and a height of nearly 40 m, supported by a triangular core on one side and columns on the other. The main challenge for this project was ensuring the necessary seismic design of the tower. Given its non-regular shape in plan and water content, it was essential to carry out a spectral analysis to prevent torsional effects that could affect the tower’s stability. Additionally, ensuring water tightness for the tank was a vital parameter. To overcome these complexities, the team used SCIA Engineer and its spectral analysis tool extensively. A significant amount of calculation notes were requested by the client, but the Engineering report was instrumental in automating their production.
