The
new car park
of Luxembourg’s main energy supplier, Enovos, is
located next to their new headquarters at Esch/Alzette. To create parking
spaces for about
400 vehicles over five levels
, the client specified the
following criteria:
economical solution
as regards its
architecture and
environmental sustainability, optimized layout of parking surfaces
and execution speed
. The solution was a customized multi-storey car
park made of steel. The load-bearing construction consists of columns
and secondary beams of
16 m free span
, facilitating easy parking
and opening of car doors. This car park will remain open and naturally
ventilated, bringing an ecological and economical benefit. With their
large eye-like openings, the cellular beams “Angelina” by Arcelor Mittal
blend well into a contemporary and bright design. The floor system used
is the additive floor Cofraplus 220, which can be quickly assembled and
reinforced with concrete for composite action. The facades have timber
cladding that acts as sun protection and gives the building a natural look
that blends well into its environment.
The stability is provided by vertical wind bracings with angles and the
horizontal diaphragm action of the concrete slabs. The primary structure
was designed with SCIA Engineer; the Angelina beams were calculated
with their corresponding software.
