Pending bridge in the Maria Hendrika Park in
Oostende
The Maria Hendrika Park, better known as
“Het bosje”, needed to be renovated. Technum
nv submitted a project in which the main struc-
ture of the park was simplified and lightened up.
Some of the more declined areas were foreseen
with actual programs and this all with regard to
the historic structure and the trees present.
The project consisted of a plan for general re-
design, a plan for the management of the
domain, the execution of the various projects,
which involves also the detailing and the mate-
rializing of certain elements that are part of the
urban development plan.
The project consisted of multiple subprojects,
the execution has started in 2003.
One particular subproject concerned the con-
struction of a 72,5m long pending bridge, which
was designed and calculated in ESA-Prima Win.
Seen the large span of the pedestrian bridge, an
extensive study on the Eigen (natural) modes
and frequencies, as well as the dynamic
response calculation was necessary. For both
these studies ESA-Prima Win was used.
