Technum N.V. is a dynamic, internationally
oriented and strongly growing multidiscipli-
nary office for engineering and consultancy
with establishments in the various Flemish
provinces.
Technum provides services for the authori-
ties, industrial and service-providing compa-
nies, project developers, international insti-
tutions, etc. for each project, single or multi-
disciplinary, and for each project phase.
Technum has the capacity, expertise and
creativity required to guarantee clients spe-
cialised and complete guidance in numer-
ous fields.
Technum consists of three Business Units
established in Antwerp,
Ghent and Hasselt,
with two other establishments in Leuven
and Ostend. These business units with their
different departments are geographically
spread around Flanders. Each of them has a
reputation for expertise, passion and flexibil-
ity.
This geographical distribution and the indi-
viduality of each business unit allows the
maximum use of professional knowledge
and skills, experience and creativity for each
project in line with the wishes of the client.
This
means an additional organisational
advantage in view of the proximity to specif-
ic markets and specific knowledge sources.
The
group
Carinox forms
part
of the
Arcelor-group and is settled in Charleroi.
The extension of the plant of Carinox with a
total new building for the production of
inox, started in September 2003. The plant
will be in action at the end of the year 2005.
The steel plant
will have a production
capacity of 10.000 ton a year.
The total investing sum is 250 mio. Euro, the
steel structure amounts to a total of 15 mio.
Euro.
The total surface of the plant is 23.000 m²,
the maximum height is 53 m.
Technum nv executed the design engineer-
ing, included static calculation, detail calcu-
lation for connections, general arrange-
ment drawings,
material take off, overview
drawings, detail drawings so that each
workshop could start immediately the work-
shop drawings for columns and crane gird-
er entirely detailed.

weight of the steelstructure is
7533 ton:
the part of the columns: 1700 ton
crane girders: 1900 ton
floors: 650 ton
roof: 754 ton
walls: 425 ton
rest auxiliary structures

Bins level on 43 meter: dead load: 700 ton:

All the design engineering is made in ESA-
Prima Win. The roof-structure and columns,
even as the
walls, are calculated in a 3D-
model, the longitudinal bracings in a 2D-
model.
