Coek TCI III
The ‘Coek TCI III’ building has a wall height of 22m and
a total span of 30 m. The length of the building is about
120m. In total, about 850 tons of steel is used for con-
structing an area of about 4.800m². The combination of a
heave crane with a lifting power of 500 tons, a large
braking force and a wall height of 22 m prompted to
choose a design with 47 composed columns, formed out
of 2 H-profiles, connected diagonally by hollow sections.
The connection of the new development with the existing
building is realized through a nave and here comes an
opening in the wall of 10 m by 8 m. 1 composed column
falls away on this spot. In order to absorb the loads of
this opening, four double framework columns of each 15
tons are foreseen, they are executed in ‘3D’. Fully
charged, these columns will have to cope with up to 500
ton. Also the crane way beams are reinforced with frame-
works on the length of the span.
The study department of Edibo has executed a stability
study according to the Eurocode with the program ESA-
Prima Win.
