Gebruik van ESA-Prima Win
Het gebruik van ESA-Prima Win was de oplossing
voor een aantal berekeningsproblemen die in
het ontwerp vervat zitten. Vooreerst is het con-
cept opgevat als een aantal autonome kolom-
men of '
masten'
die op een momentvaste funde-
ring geplaatst worden.
De structuur wordt bevestigd aan deze masten
d.m.v. trekstaven. Het gebruik van de
module
van fysisch niet-lineaire berekeningen was hierbij
belangrijk.
Verder gaf de uitgebreide profielenbibliotheek
en bijhorende functies ons bijkomende voorde-
len. In het ontwerp moesten er namelijk I-profie-
len, al dan niet met variabele hoogten, gecombi-
neerd
worden met ronde buisprofielen. Vooral
de detaillering van de overgangen en verbindin-
gen tussen deze profielen, i.f.v. het architectura-
le, vroeg om extra aandacht en uiteraard ook om
de
mogelijkheid om rekening te houden
met
niet-alledaagse profielsecties.

Porch in Maria Hospital of Northern
Limburg, Overpelt
The porch fulfills a double function: one
the one side it offers protection against
bad weather conditions and on the other
side it directs pedestrians to their destina-
tion. The V-shape determines the drainage
of the porch; from the steel deck via a cen-
tral gutter to the columns, where they end
in drains at the bottom.
At the end of this porch a reversed U in
concrete contains a staircase and 2 glass
lift cages. This unit forms link between the
parking and the entry space of the hospi-
tal, a difference in height of 4,21 m had to
be overcome.
The use of ESA-Prima Win was the solu-
tion for the various calculation problems
of the design.
